Hello, Gina Garoogian here, nice to meet you! January 2025 I became a nomad for the second time. This means I'm not in the Salon on a regular basis, just FYI. Calling the front desk is the best way to learn about my schedule for the upcoming months.

 

I'm originally from Santa Barbara California where I still service my clientele from the past 30+ years. I had the privilege of working for De Cut Hair International in my 20s. We were trained to cut and color under the framing system, think of it as the opposite of Vidal Sassoon. We don't take 8 inch sections. Instead we bulk cut and spend more time on analyzing face shape, hair, texture, and distributing weight. We were all trained to teach the framing system to stylists all over the world. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have performed on a stage for it gives me the confidence to produce beautiful work when under pressure.

 

I'm a minimalist at heart which transfers over to my craft. I take pride in simple, clean, wash and wear styles. I believe that quality products are key, yet less is more. I aim to offer haircuts that require very little at home styling. My preference for color is anything that offers you a seamless grow out. I enjoy working with your natural color as opposed to altering it 100%. Hand painted pops of sun kissed blond and, or deep chocolate brown lowlights for a natural look creating contrast and depth. I rarely use toners with my Balayage, instead I work with your natural undertones. The goal of a no-toner Balayage is longevity, less maintenance and less damage.

 

Along with cutting and coloring all types of hair, I'm also a Curly Hair specialist. Layering, texturing and distributing weight are key when cutting Curly Hair. My experience translates to efficiency, ensuring a timely yet high-quality experience for all my clients! Each time you sit in my chair I will look at your tresses with new eyes, asking myself, what can I do to enhance this already beautiful look and give it even more longevity than last time? When a client returns for their trim and color still looking good I know I've done my job. I am a true artist at heart having also dabbled in ceramics, acrylic painting, mosaics, dance, creative writing. Then there is your hair, my other canvas...

 

When I'm not at work you can find me on the pickleball court, at the park doing handstands and backbends, riding my bike, reading, writing, at a Milonga dancing Tango, Contact Improv, West Coast swing or Fusion. I'm curious about the 5th dimension. I also enjoy philosophizing, especially when it comes to human nature and metaphysics. Feeling thankful to be settled in this beautiful city of Boulder with a trade that allows me to pay the rent. Thank you for trusting me with your tresses, I look forward to meeting you!
